India has 80 million girls aged between 13-19 years. They make 6.6% of India’s population.
And 1 out of every 5 of them is not in school.
Gender bias holds many of them back. Even though with every additional year of schooling adolescent girls are less likely to have teenage pregnancies, less likely to have a shorter interval between children, and less likely to have more than two children during her lifetime.
Education helps them find jobs, lifts them out of poverty, improves their health and generally helps them achieve aspirations.
